Welcome to Nerd Housekeeping. I would imagine one might call this blog the digital Kondo, but having never read The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, I wouldn’t know. In any case, what I hope to provide in this space are tips and hints for consolidating, organizing, backing up, and…well, taming your digital clutter.

I stand before you as an avowed digital packrat. As a poseur archiver who has collections of vinyl LPs, books, letters, and¬†zines – you are damn straight I also attempt to hold on to every digital archive I create. As I get older…it’s starting to occur to me that I should curate my own personal archive of collected text, audio, image, and video files. I’m currently working through a process of doing this, having completed several steps already, and would like to share some of the things I’ve learned to a wider audience.

Additionally, I’d like to share some information I’ve collected along the way to help you make decisions about what to keep, what to archive, and what to delete – as well as tips and hints for the creation,¬†upkeep, and maintenance of a digital organizational system.

My first series of posts will be about photo organization. First I will post some links that pertain to various photo organization apps, structures, and systems, and then I’ll let you in on my own photo organization project – planning, executing, and refining all on the blog.

I hope you’ll stick around!

P.S. If you don’t want to read about it on the blog, but would like one-on-one tutoring or would like to pay me to organize your files for you, please reach out! Leave a comment or email me.
